is a mary kay foot spa party safe when pregnant?
I agreed to have a Mary Kay foot spa party for my friend who sells Mary Kay, but that was before I found out I was pregnant. I havent even told my parents yet (I am waiting 'til the first appt) so I really dont want to ask her about pregnancy and the products. also, if they are not safe, how do I tell my friend I cant right now?
Hi I'm a consultant and hopefully can alleviate your concern.
As long as you don't try any anti-aging, sun care or any products that will change more than 1 layer of skin--you should be fine.
USUALLY a spa party consists of trying the Satin Hand Set but on the feet and in lieu of the hand cream, you try the mint bliss--which IS safe for pregnant women. I called about it this summer before I gave it to a friend of mine.
Mention to her that you were wondering if you could see a list of the products being tried at least 24 hours prior to the class/party.
I'm not sure what country you are in? Anyway marykay.com is the headquarters website--and from THAT website you can find links to the MK countries website all over the world so it wouldn't matter which country you are in.
Take the list and call the company, explain that you are having a class with your consultant and you want to know if any products are suggested to NOT be used during a pregnancy.
They will tell you.
Alternatively, mention to your friend/consultant that there are a few women in the class who have confidentially asked you for you to find out which products are unsafe for pregnant women. And could she please eliminate those products or put them out for demo but not part of the class.
That said--you will be fine as long as you stick with trying JUST the spa products--the unsafe areas are trying anything--FROM ANY LINE--that promises to change long term the appearance of the skin.
Such as anti-aging, peels, etc.
As well, most of our products have a list of ingredients on them or on the box--if you can get a list from your doctor or on the net or whoever of products you should stay away from--you can cross check that ingredient list with that list.
if she asks what you are doing/or why--just say you are checking for someone who couldn't come--she doesn't need to know what the list is for.
I hope that helps?
