What is my best option? 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo Coolant leak in to oil an oil in coolant.?
I have a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo. it has about 96000 miles on it. Lately I have been getting low coolant warning light and when I went to fill it up with coolant, I noticed their was oil in my coolant. This morning my car started to make a really loud knocking or ticking sound under the hood. I shut it off and checked the oil and i noticed there was some thick black glob on my dip stick mixed with oil. I opened the oil cap and it had white looking oil, kinda like snot from ur nose when ur sick euuu. I asked a friend and he said I could be my head gasket. Does anyone know what could cause this and what would be best option to solve the problem? I need a good idea of what is wrong before I take it to the shop. I started it again and the ticking/knocking was not as bad and i let it sit for about 5 minutes and it went away. Thanks again in advance for any help.
more than likely you have an intake manifold gasket leaking, those monte's with the v6 are noted for that, your looking at approx. $650 to have it fixed by a mechanic, get it fixed before you end up having to replace the complete engine as water and oil don't mix.
